So, one of my clients had a Brother MFC-8480DN printer I installed in 2009. That was purchased for ~$500 (with the additional paper tray)
The printer has over 300,000 pages through it, and the scanner has over 100,000 pages through it.
I've been suggesting it get replaced for quite a while, but nothing is important until it's an emergency apparently :-/ The feed through scanner is not working properly on the scanner, so I said it's time to replace it.
Required features:
- Absolutely must have at least two paper trays. (One for letter, One for legal)
- Must have feed through scanner and flatbed scaner.
- Must have multifuction copy/fax/scan/print.
- Must be a networked printer
- Must have a duplexer
- Probably needs to be cheap :-/
- EDIT: Color printing is NOT a requirement.
The primary user of the printer goes through about a ream of paper a day. Does a lot of scanning, copying, and faxing with it. The printer is definitely being used over it's capacity. But it was cheap.
What printers do you guys recommend to replace this thing?
This seems like a good time to use the Spiceworks Purchasing feature, what vendors do you guys recommend I contact for a new printer like this?
I probably need to get this quick, because now that it's actually broken it's a big emergency.
