It looked for all the world like a corrupted driver, so I searched for and found updated drivers and deployed them on the server, tested with a test page and thought all would be well. It wasn't. It behaved exactly as before, regardless of what driver I deployed (PCL 6, PCL 5e, PCL 6 universal from this manufacturer). Thinking maybe something was wrong with the shared printer, I created a new printer on the server, tested and deployed it. Same behavior. A test page from the server prints fine.
