I never really cared for product shopping. It's always a matter of wanting to see a phrase that a vendor may not use.
In this case, I am trying to find a network scanner such as HP's Digital Sender Flow 8500 fn1 or Fujitsu's N7100 for a small company. They'd like to be able to walk up to the scanner that's in a common location, scan a bunch of stuff, have it appear in a network folder having already been OCRed.
There's a wide-variety of prices and potential workflows but it all comes down to the following, I think.
1. A scanner with in-built OCR that OCRs a document as it creates the PDFs in the network scan deestination.
2. A scanner that dumps a PDF into a network scan location on a server with server software that sees the document and OCRs it.
HP's manual is very clear. They have "embedded OCR." Fujitsu is less clear. They have a...
