My previous roles have been exclusively around servers and networking so I am not up to date at all with printers. I am hoping to find a software and hardware combination that will allow me to have one single printer set up to send printing to multiple devices.
My office has 3 large Canon imagerunners on lease. I would like every member of staff issued with a pin so that they send the printing to the one printer and then whichever of the 3 machines they put their pin in to their printing is produced.
A bonus would be the ability to collect information about printing, doc name, number of pages, black and white etc and produce reports based on departments so maybe connected to AD. Also the ability to set arbitrary limits like number of pages to limit excessive printing.
I am speaking to the company that lease our printers as well however I don't want to go into a conversation without at least some knowledge of what options are available. What do you guys use?
