In-house Printing vs. Outsourcing Print Jobs

Every once in a while I get a staff person complaining that the print job they're running is starting to spit out light prints. I'll go and check the toner level, which looks fine, and try a print myself and the print looks fine.

Then I go to the staff person and find they are printing 15 copies of a 400 page training manual! Seem the printer may be getting hot and the prints start fading. The printer/copier is a large Savin 9080 machine, but I don't think it is meant to print 6000 pages at a pop. I suggested that they should look at out-sourcing such a large print job. Now I have to justify why they can't use the internal printers AND get crisp prints.

So, at what point do you have large print jobs sent out and how do you convince the users?

Thanks in advance!
