Ran across this issue today. Replaced a toner in the machine, but it failed to recognize...So if you need to reset the toner, follow these steps.
Toner Manual Reset:
b. Press the Fax icon on the LCD to illuminate the keys that have stayed Off on the control panel, and identify the location of the * (asterisk) key.
c. Press the Home key to return the machine to the ready state.
d. Open the front cover. Check that the message Cover Is Open" is displayed on the entire LCD.
e. Hold down the * (asterisk) key for 5 seconds or longer.
f. "Reset Menu" will be displayed on the LCD. Release the * (asterisk) key.
g. Press the options below depending on the color of the toner cartridge displayed with the message "Replace Toner":
- Black (K) toner: Use the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to press K. TNR - STD
- Cyan (C) toner: Use the UP OR DOWN ARROW key...
